PMI Atlanta strives to provide our members with many tools to grow professionally and further their careers. Our programs support those seeking and maintaining PMI cerifications..

Certification Courses

We have partnered with a wide range of vendors to provide in-person and online courses intended for candidates in the final stages of exam preparation. Courses are a series of review sessions in which comprehensive matierals are reviewed at a rapid pace. This allows the candidate to identify areas which require further preparation. Courses typically provide 35 hours of instructor-led training and is therefore eligible to be counted as 35 contact hours as required by PMI to qualify for the exam. Courses are posted throughout the year on our Events Calendar.

Continuing Education Courses

Are you a certified veteran of project management? Our in-person and online courses provide advanced and specialized courses for your continuing PDU requirements. Courses are posted throughout the year on our Events Calendar.

Mentoring

Through the mentorship program, we facilitate mentor/mentee relationships to provide experience to the newly certified and an opportunity for our certified members to receive PDUs for volunteering their time. Our mentorship team publishes calls for mentors and mentees several times a year in our newsletter (subscribe here). If you have any questions about the mentoring program, please email us.

Military Mentoring

We value active, transitioning, and retired military members and understand that the project management profession is an ideal career path in the civilian workforce. Industry research suggests strong ties between military experience and the success of candidates interested in applying their strategic leadership skills and competencies to the project management profession. While we publish calls for military mentoring groups, we recognize that transitioning into the civil workforce can fall outside of these periods. If you need any assistance with the military mentoring program, please email us.

Study Groups

Studying for the PMP exam can be a daunting task, one that is not easily undertaken as a solo participant. By studying with others, PMP candidates can help each other prepare more thoroughly and efficiently. The PMP Study Group Program simplifies this process for you and helps make connections between PMP candidates who take seriously the task of preparing for the exam.

The PMP Study Group Program is interactive and free of charge to chapter members and provides an opportunity to work with peers to enhance their ability to pass the PMP exam. A PMP mentor will be assigned to each study group to give advice on how the test is administered, study techniques, and needed materials. Take advantage of this free offer from the Professional Growth Committee of PMI Atlanta to help you pass the PMP exam on your first try!

Notes: The PMP Study Groups are designed for PMP candidates who already have fulfilled the educational and experience qualifications of the PMP credential. The typical study process is designed to take place over a 12-week period. A PMP study group does not qualify as "contact hours" for the PMP educational requirement. This program is offered only to members of PMI Atlanta as a free benefit.

Why be in a PMP Study Group?

  • Networking with other project managers
  • Opportunity to work with peers to clarify areas of confusion, compare notes, gain new insights, and aid in memorization
  • Learn study habits, approaches, and perspectives
  • Easier to commit more time to course work when working with a group.
  • Teaching/explaining something to someone else can help you master it yourself
  • Further develop your own interpersonal skills while supporting others
  • Enhance your motivation through encouragement and mutual support

Our study groups provide support for those testing for a certification. We hold several study groups throughout the year. If you are interested in mentoring a study group, please email us.

Professional Development Units

PMI Atlanta supports the ongoing educational and professional development of our certification holders so they are always prepared to meet the demands of today’s complex business environment. For the credentialed member, continued education is critical for success. We adhere to the global PMI standards of continued learning, the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program.

Participation in professional development activities earns the member professional development units (PDUs) and maintains certification. Our members' ongoing commitment to continued education ensures that Atlanta area companies seeking a certified candidate are hiring the most educated and up-to-date version of them.
